Why Do Chinese Americans Have Extraordinary Educational Achievement

The extraordinary educational achievement of Chinese Americans have two explanations that are cultural and structural explanations. The cultural explanation mentions about how the cultures cause the high academic achievement of Chinese Americans. For instance, the culture of afterschool tutoring in Hong Kong helped many Chinese to achieve high educational achievement. On the other hand, the structural explanation mentions about how the family background or racial stereotype causes the high academic achievement of Chinese Americans. For instance, the families with high SES can be able to support their children to attend the better schools. In the following paragraphs, I will explain why Chinese Americans have extraordinary educational achievement.

For instance, since the adverisement in Chinesenewspaper provide the information about the college prep programs and seminars, Chinese American children are able to apply into the programs and have higher educational achievement. Besides the advertisment of college prep programs and seminars, the advertisment of private afterschools in America also help the Chinese Americans to have extraordinary educational achievement. For instance, the advertisments of private afterschools reinforce the values of education by using attractive words, such as "Bring out the best in your child" and "turn your child into a well-rounded superstar". Because of those attractive words, many Chinese or Chinese American parents are affected to force their children to attend the private after-schools and cause the extraordinary academic performance of Chinese American children in
