Students who endure some sort of illness and/or other health issue come to this center to be treated effectively. The location of the Ashe Center is extremely helpful for students because it is located in the center of the campus. The Ashe Center services include: primary care, women’s health, walk-in urgent care, speciality clinics, immunizations, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, radiology, acupuncture, chair massage, travel clinic, and physical therapy. In addition, the Ashe Center provides health workshops and offers a online magazine, “Student Health 101.” With the renowned faculty and staff and the incredible medical equipment, the Ashe Center encourages physical, mental, and social health of all UCLA students. AAP’s goals are to provide academic support to historically underrepresented student, create beneficial academic programs that aid low-income and first generation students, and promote entry into higher educational institutions for underprivileged high school and community college students. AAP provides peer learning sessions, academic programs, academic, personal, and career counseling, graduate and professional school mentoring, scholarships, research opportunities, and a computer lab. Above all these valuable resources, the AAP is a safe counterspace for many students of color. Due to the fact that UCLA is a predominantly white and Asian institution, AAP creates a safe atmosphere where many students of color can find other individuals who may look similar to them and share similar cultural ideologies.
