After asking the series of questions, the nurse takes the patient into a room for an ultrasound to verify the size of the baby, they also ask for you to take a sample of urine to test for any STDs. They take your uran and sit you back into a room and give you medicine that helps open up your cervix. The patient sits for 3 hours waiting for this part of the procedure to be over. While waiting in the common areas, the patient watches tv or reads magazines. After the three hours are finished, they sit the patient in a separate room while she waits for her name to be called for the procedure. The procedure itself takes five minutes but because of the anxiety and the doubt, some women take up to 1 hours to complete the process.
