This too comes with many pros and cons, however, I do believe the pros outweigh the cons by a long shot. Not only does outsourcing save on labor costs (sometimes) and keep product prices down, it also saves on time. We all know time is money these days. Our reading cites specific examples of this, one being that if someone in Dallas finished their work at closing time, it could then be sent to Hawaii until their closing time, and then eventually to India. Once in India they would be able to work on it until the job was sent back to Dallas the following morning. Now this does set more responsibility on managers since we are not only dealing with 1 or 2 managers at this point, but 4 or 5. They would all need to coordinate and make sure that the project was seamlessly finished from one country to another. Today a simple product can be changed into hundreds of different things. Packaging alone, depending on the demographic that is buying the product, can change drastically.
