In the ‘Wife's Story”, they see the husband as a threat to the children. The wife is scared of her husband at first, but then the husband goes to attack the children and doesn't accept them anymore as shown in the first quote: “It turned on her and raised up that branch to hit her. The parents of the students at school start to call his house and leave threats. The parents of the children at school are threatening him because the is different (Brummel 18:00). The people at school and parents are only doing this because he's gay and different than them. Jamie just wants to be accepted and treated like everyone else. His parents love him for who he is and don’t care that he is gay in this quote. They were calling his parents threatening him and telling them Jamie deserves being bullied but his parents are upset because they love him for who he is (Brummel 18:00). He wants everyone to treat him the same way even if he is gay. Jamie wants to be accepted for who Jamie is just like his parents do but no one else.
