For the black lives matter cases, simplification tends to be worse than Dahmer’s. When you simplify a case with such a high impact to the general public, especially a public that is also trying to document everything that is partaking as well on their own phone, whenever pieces of information are withheld, or not discussed fully there is a backlash from the general public. In Dahmer’s case, you can trace back, as far as his childhood, because there is generally only one person to follow when not paying focus to his victims. He is the focal center to the pertaining case. He’s had movies, songs, documentaries, and countless articles written about him, almost making him seem as important or well known as a celebrity. While the black lives matter case gets repercussions for its simplification, Dahmer’s case is welcomed with open arms, because it helps the general public understand a timeline of the murders action themselves, and helps them understand who he was as a person. The black lives matter movement cases had a higher predictability than Dahmer’s case because of the frequent amount of cases that arose. Even when the cases weren’t the main focus point, people rioted in the streets of the message the movement sent. There was no uproar, in the same way Dahmer’s case was. Because the police who were involved in the black lives matter cases were generally silent themselves during the trails, they did not get to speak on behalf of themselves, instead it was their given precinct that majority of the interviews were directed to. The head chief of the police department involved would talk about the officers doing their jobs, while in Dahmer’s own case, when he was captured he was able to talk about the things he did, and why he did them. The media was able to hear Dahmer’s voice, even if they didn’t want to while people are still asking to know more from the police officers involved in the deaths of the people in the black lives matter
