The lady that composed this piece is actually the mother of the woman that was playing violin. I thought this was very cool and you could tell that this piece meant a lot to her. This piece is from the modern era as it was wrote in 2012. The piece itself was written to represent the landscape of Wallah Wallah, Washington. This was the place of a musical festival that she and her husband had founded. The landscape was supposed to be beautiful fields filled with golden grasses. The piece used silence and pauses a lot to help describe the peacefulness of the place being described. The tempo of the piece was very slow. The piece also used syncopations very well to help get the peacefulness across. The dynamics of this piece used a lot of crescendo and decrescendo to get across the feeling of the piece. This piece was a very dark feeling one and I didn't quite feel the beautiful landscape the performer had described. Some of the pitches used in this piece were also kind of shrilly and made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't really enjoy this piece and it was definitely my least favorite one of the performance. It was also a very sad sounding piece and I do not prefer those types of
