Cooperative and Collaborative Learning promotes student learning through group oriented activities. “Collaborative Learning is a method of teaching and learning in which students will be able to work together to explore and create a meaningful project” (2). “Cooperative Learning is a teaching strategy in which small groups of students with different levels of abilities use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject” (2). Through Cooperative and Collaborative Learning, there are many objectives and benefits that can lead to success for the students in the future. “Cooperative learning is a teaching strategy in which small teams of students with different abilities use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject” (2). During all cooperative learning activities, the physical education teachers need to make sure that they include the following objectives: “positive interdependence, individual accountability, face to face interaction, collaborative skills, and group processing” (3). First step objective of cooperative learning is positive interdependence, “you want to have your students create a goal, you want to have your students divide the group work equally, encourage sharing, and group effort (1)”. For example, if you are teaching a group of students about how to team build give the participants a task but also allow them to figure out their own outcomes and working together to problem solve.
