Cooperative and Collaborative Learning promotes student learning through group oriented activities. “Collaborative Learning is a method of teaching and learning in which students will be able to work together to explore and create a meaningful project” (2). “Cooperative Learning is a teaching strategy in which small groups of students with different levels of abilities use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject” (2). Through Cooperative and Collaborative Learning, there are many objectives and benefits that can lead to success for the students in the future. During all cooperative learning activities, the physical education teachers need to make sure that they include the following objectives: “positive interdependence, individual accountability, face to face interaction, collaborative skills, and group processing” (3). First step objective of cooperative learning is positive interdependence, “you want to have your students create a goal, you want to have your students divide the group work equally, encourage sharing, and group effort (1)”. For example, if you are teaching a group of students about how to team build give the participants a task but also allow them to figure out their own outcomes and working together to problem solve.
