The Day I Will Remember Forever

October 3rd, 2017 was the day that I would remember forever. Me and Keerthana had talked about seeing the movie IT for a time no one could count. I have known Keerthana since the 5th grade and seeing horror movies was our tradition. I was sucked into the horror movie realm. The day finally came, and in homeroom we couldn't stop blabbering about how excited we were. Even over the announcements you could hear us talking. My knee was bouncing up and down in every class with excitement. Before I left to go to the packed Hillsborough Cinemas, I watched every trailer I could. Everyone encouraged me to see the first IT, but I decided that was mostly for old people. At the last minute, Keerthana texted me asking if it was alright for other people to …show more content…
Now, the workers at the theater had strategically put the theater showing It right behind the ticket stub counter so no could sneak into the theater. We walked back out into the lobby to sit and contemplate what we should do. None of us wanted to get in trouble or get kicked out of the theater. That would have been too embarrassing. When one of the ushers looked away, me and Keerthana quickly glanced at each other. And we kind of had a silent agreement, and in that moment we quickly went past the stand and into the open door of the IT theater. As we're walking in we were immersed in a sea of people. And just from a quick look I could already see kids my age and younger who were definitely not supposed to be there as well. I don't know about anyone else, but I did not expect the theater to be so packed. But it was a friday night after all. I almost ran up the steps to the top seats, full of electricity, after successfully sneaking in. For a couple of minutes me and Keerthana thought that the rest of our friends weren't going to come in at all. They were more afraid of getting in trouble. No one needs that on their record or something even close to that.

I slithered through the group of people crowding the fine arts room and sat in the back corner. I prayed that I would have an extra day to go over my video, that in my opinion thoroughly sucked. John Carpenter’s original Halloween (1978) premiered at a time when the horror film genre was undergoing distinct changes. As Ernest Mathijs notes in a Flow forum post on the ritual of Halloween horror viewing, monster films and other classic horror were being replaced at the end of the 1970s with “stories about the ‘horror within’, the evil amidst the community.” Some predecessors of Halloween, such as Brian De Palma’s Carrie (1976) and Charles B. Pierce’s The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) had begun this tradition of community based horror (or horror within a small town), while films such as Black Christmas (1974) and Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972) had started a tradition of horror films that were holiday-centric. Carpenter’s Halloween,…

October 12th. The day that I,Heather Kubel, a freshman at Sierra Lutheran High School, would have embedded in my memory forever. There were kids running around and adults trying to find their children. Kids pulling on there parents arm to see if their parent could buy them something in the bookstore.…
