If it’s about one o’clock and the baby is still sleeping, I have finished eating and I have cleaned up, and stored the laundry in the laundry room, getting it ready to do when it’s eight o’clock. When this is finished, I settle in at the table to go through the monthly budget. After that is all squared away, I do a little bit more studying before she wakes up. At two o’clock Kaydence is already out of bed eating lunch. After lunch I wash the dishes and wash down her highchair. After everything is put away I sit down with Kaydence in the living room and read a book or two with her. When story time is over, I get out the blocks or one of the bins of toys; we sit down and go over the colors in the bins. At two-thirty, I usually get the phone call that my roommate is off work and on her way home. I spend the next hour playing with Kaydence. I also do another diaper change and change her outfit if she needs it which, by this time of the day, she usually does. At three, my eyes must be glazed over in joy at the sight of my little one already showing signs of being tired. I know by four that she will be down for her second nap of the day. Her eyes get heavier and heavier with sleep every minute she is awake. As quietly as I can, I pull the dirty clothes I changed her out of I put them upstairs with the other loads of laundry. Four o’clock is here and nap number two has begun for the baby; my roommate is already home. I sweep the kitchen floor and put more dishes in the dishwasher that are now occupying the sink. Once that is all said and down, I curl up on the couch with my laptop to check my email and maybe get a bit of wiring done. Around five o’clock I hear grunting noises followed by some babbling in the baby monitor. I race to the kitchen in hopes of getting her snack ready before she gets too upset in her crib. After snack she is awake and ready to play. It’s time for another diaper change. It’s six thirty. It’s time to start dinner. Picking up my daughter, strapping her into her highchair, and setting her right next to the island in the kitchen, I ask her what she thinks we should have for dinner.
