Sometimes people think that we are different because we have different colors, races, family, social class, however; we all are human. White people think they are better than black, rich people think they are better than poor all of that, but we are the same. Things should not be like that. In the Worn path story people treated Phoenix very bad because she was looking a medicine for her grandson. Today we are going to see how people in the worn story reacted to Phoenix, and why they were reacted like that.

I can tell that Phoenix is a great and strong old woman, the path she got through was not easy to do. She was alone fighting by herself to get the medicine for her grandson. People in that story really treated her with no respect. When Phoenix have gotten in the clinic, a woman on the front desk talked to her like she was piece of crap. She was sweating and shaking because of her long walk to the clinic; however, the woman in the front desk instead of talking to her with kindness, she was super rude to her. Most people in that story were super rude to Phoenix, they did not treat her good at all. The way the nurse in the story treated her was like she had to feel the pain in order to have the medicine. We can identify that by this quote “ All right, as long you came to get it, you could have it”. It looks like she had to suffer to get the medicine. Phoenix suffered all of that because she was black. We cannot deny at this time most people were racist, in the story they all are racist because of the way they treated

Phoenix Jackson was quite the vibrant character. If I could break down Phoenix altogether, she had many qualities that contributed to shaping both her role and her effect on other encounters in the story. Phoenix is surprisingly a positive individual. Although she encounters many obstacles that knocks her off of her path to her destination, she remains surprisingly strong and positive. From the dog knocking her off her path, to the roads themselves being dirty and grimy she remains positive in responding to the somewhat dull and uninspiring environment the story depicts.…

“A Worn Path” by Eudora Welty demonstrates a clear understanding of the three critical lenses. The first of three critical lenses is Marxist which is a lens that helps us influence the characters, plot, setting, reader/viewer, author, time period, and any other aspect of an exhibit. The second lens is the Feminist lens which is an ideology that “opposes the political, economical, and cultural relegation of women to positions of inferiority.” Finally, the Archetypal lens which is character types that recur (and relationships) or patterns of symbols or situations found in mythology, religion, and stories of all cultures. This story helps clearly demonstrate a strong understanding for each of the critical lenses being looked at.…
