There is no logical answer. Many racist bigots have rationalized this belief because “black people do not know any better” or that all black people are criminals. To the contrary of racists everywhere, a very select percentage of black people are actually, bad people. The most famous group of discriminating African Americans is the KKK or Ku Klux Klan. The KKK is most prominent in the southern states, the former Confederate states. It is important to remember that the largest pockets of Klan members are in the south because there was a whole war over the issue of race (there were other reasons, but this is a major one). The Civil War was a war over the issue of slavery and black rights. Southern lifestyle depended on slave labor, these slaves were stolen and imported from Africa. The opposing side, the Union or Northern states led by Abraham Lincoln attempted to squash this bigotry and free black people from slavery in southern America. Even though the Union was able to win the gruesome war and all slaves were freed from the shackles, African Americans were not equal. Jim Crow laws and “separate but equal” facilities were put in place in the deep south. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X fought for equality during the Civil Rights Movement. Today, activists are still fighting for true egalitarianism through the power of social media and television. Grant and …show more content…

A few seats next to him sit two mulattos (a human that has mixed blood), these men are highly racist and despise black people even though they are half-black. These bigots were insecure and wanted to distance themselves from black people, they wanted to get a form of acceptance from the white community. Mulattos were banned from the all-white movie theaters, clubs, restaurants, etc. The men constantly used the racial slur of “nigg**” and were discriminating Jefferson. Grant had enough, he stormed the table and started to fight the two men, it did not go well but his point was proved. Jefferson had turned himself into a man, no matter what two idiots felt. It is very odd that men who have felt racism themselves, cannot be nice and appropriate to others. Racism has spread like wildfire throughout history, leading to wars (figuratively and literally). Hopefully, the human race can learn from its mistakes and learn to love or hate each other based on their character, not how they appear on the outside. It will take years to end the STIGMA, but the hatred will come crashing down like the Berlin Wall. Skin color can affect your public perception, even though it is not morally
