On an unseasonably warm winter night in December 2013 our voyage began. The trip included my girlfriend, her two sisters, my mother, and myself. We were making the almost seven hundred mile trip to South Carolina. This trip took over 16 hours, but was lasting memory in the making.

I learned alot on the trip to Parris Island, South Carolina. I learned five people in a 2012 Mustang is a very crowded ride. I learned you need to stop to rest your your legs every so often to release the strain of cramped legs. But, most of all, I learned that family will always be there when you need them.

Our whole trip was about family being there when it is important. My girlfriend, Amber, her brother, Joshua, was in Parris Island, South Carolina to

I took him back to his barracks so he could pack his belongings. We then went to the Marine Exchange and to Comminsary. We all went to a Dominos food cart set up for all the hungry families that day to get lunch. We then decided to go to the vistors center to buy gifts and souveniers.

Later on in the afternoon we headed back to the hotel. It was nice talking and spending time as a family. We listened to boot camp stories; We also caught him up on what he had missed out on over the previous thirteen weeks.

As dinner approached we all decided on Applebees. Our new Marine picked up the tab for dinner. I loved seeing the pride he showed being able to pay for dinner. I asked Joshua if he wanted to drop off the ladies and drive to Wal-mart. I let him drive. He was so excited to drive a Mustang across the street. We went and bought everyone a gift . I will never forget the way we left swelling with pride.

On the long trip home I had plenty of time to reflect on my new family. These people had accepted me as one of thier own. We spent the next ten days celebrating Christmas and the New Years together. I love my family. We all come together to celebrate each others accomplishments. in my opinion unconditional love is what family is all

What Were The Louisiana Maneuvers? World War I revealed that the U.S. military was still quite unprepared for modern war. Doctrine was out of date, experience in the command of large forces was nonexistent, and the coordination of arms and services was largely a matter of theory. Post WW I, twenty years of inadequate funding and bare bone units had made the U.S. Army little more than a token establishment.…

I was all packed and ready to set off on my 10 day adventure to H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation but all that's in my way is about 12 hours and 9 of them I’m going restless because I’m so excited and I keep my dad up by asking him questions but when I have an important one he’s gone “MOM wheres Dad.” I said “he’s seeing his mom,” with a couple of tears running down her face “ It will probably going to be the last time he sees her” and I remember that she is in the hospital. It has been about 5 ½ months since she has been diagnosed with glioblastoma.…

It was a windy October afternoon when my friend Andrew and I decided to hike a Creasent Trail. Even though the day was a little chilly, Andrew and I still managed to walk the trails. We hiked for about one hour and we were both trailing very far behind each other because we were both so tired. The trails were full of very colorful leaves and we knew that fall was coming. Both of us wore a lot of clothes to keep warm.…

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

The began the long and protracted trip on the Monday of Spring Break. Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…

Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
