Mensa IncStrategic plans are created at all three levels of an organization that include

corporate, business, and functional levels of any organization which main purpose is to

describe the objectives, goals, and also other plans necessary for accomplishing these

goals. Finance, Marketing, Operations, and also Personnel are also important and should

be measured when incorporating a strategic plan for any business. The Mensa Company

has engaged itself with various businesses, which include Energy, Packaging, Forest

Products, and also Financial Services. Each individual businesses and their sub-divisions

should be required to appraise performance and also modify business strategies to ensure

that increasing productivity is the main goal

The most obvious

challenge of this organization is to find a way to strategize and increase the resources

such as financial, capital, and manpower towards the most appealing of the four

businesses and sub-divisions while taking advantage of all opportunities.

At a glance, the Financial Services and Energy business are doing very well for

the Mensa Company and may need to look to make more investments into those two

businesses. However, a more strategic decision needs to be made whether or not to

decrease the size of both the Forest Products and Packaging businesses or just shut down

the businesses all together. The current dilemma that the organization is face with is

choosing which business or businesses is the most capable and how to go about making

the right decisions. Although there are many opportunities as far as for profits and

potential growth within the organization, there are many threats that exist and need to be

more products and services could help to increase profits to over $300,000,000 million

over the next 5 years making this business to be one of the most promising between all

four businesses.

The Energy business of the Mensa Company deals with several sub-divisions

such as exploration, development, and production of oil and gas. The acquisition of Gas

was very helpful as Easy Gas was the sole supplier of natural gas in the state of Florida

and also showed the ability to provide strong cash flow. The Florida pipeline was also

major and beneficial because this particular aspect of the Energy business increases the

overall profits for the business as a whole, which estimated to increase over

$300,000,000. As of right now and in the future, investing in large amounts towards the

exploration division can be seen as a high risk due to large in size, and powerful

competitors within the this particular segment of the industry. As a recommendation, the

organization should look to the long-term by investing more in the Florida
