Zusak uses different kinds of narrative point of view to show the different perspectives of man. Narrative point of view helps show each different side to a character’s true nature. Each character, including Death, has their own unique point of view. The use of narrative point of view shows this. The use of 1st person confessional helps push Death’s perspective on humanity. Death’s perspective provides great amounts of insight towards the human race as he is an embodiment of their own humanity.
