Zoom Meeting Reflection

Good morning Dr. Hadley,

I want to give you an update in regards to the concerns I shared with you few days ago.
I submitted the grade appeal and I am currently participating in the residency.

After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided to request the possibility of assign me to another Chair. I am well aware that the Chair is not teaching the courses, as a Doctoral Learner I am committed to conduct research to find the information necessary for my dissertation; however, the Chair provides guidance through the process and request changes based on her expertise.
In my case, I feel misleads by my Chair and that is the reason why I am requesting be assigned to a different Chair.
On 11/17/2015 during my scheduled Zoom Meeting, my Chair only allowed me to be in the meeting for 15 minutes. The meetings are scheduled for 30 minutes but my Chair started late and rushed me to finish because there was another student waiting. I do not understand why my meeting was shorter than the other meetings and I also do not understand why my Chair dedicated

The proposed samples were: Capital Mitigation Specialists, Probationer Officers working in a specialized caseload -sex offenders/intensive probation supervision/seriously mentally ill/domestic violence- or Case Managers or Counselors. My Chair originally said that she did not approve any of those groups because the only individuals that develop STS are master’s degree levels, which based on studies about STS is not true. First responders may develop STS and do not need more than a technical degree to do their job. My Chair informed that my study should be an ethnography of Latino Counselors and their experience providing service to victims of trauma. I worked the entire class on learning about conducting an ethnography as my Chair

Reading Task Chapter 2: Sociological Research Methods The second chapter of The Real World by Ferris and Stein distinguishes between the different research methods sociologists use and outline their advantages and disadvantages. Although the methods are also outlined in great detail, I feel that the thought of the benefits but especially downsides of the methods is of crucial importance in that chapter. Sociology, although sometimes looked upon more as a humanity than a science (which I personally feel is unjustified), is an academic field that uses the scientific method in order to gather and interpret data. Even though people tend to feel reduced and dehumanized by being labeled as ‘data points’ the study of societies is in many ways similar…

1-a. Share the learning outcome(s) you either wrote or revised using the steps outlined in the module. One of the course objectives I used to use for Music Cultures World was “Students will be able to identify and discuss the differences and similarities among musical performances from a variety of cultural contexts.” After taking the ACUE 1A module, I decided to revise the course outcome as follows: 1) Students will be able to illustrate the connection between music and dance in African music by producing a 5-minute flash mob. 2) Students will be able to demonstrate the application of a number notation system by creating a 5-minute gamelan performance.…

As a member of the Executive team, I feel it is necessary to inform you of the issues I have recently become aware of regarding the Roanoke branch. In the past several months, we have had an Art Director and an Account Executive resign from the company, along with a threat of three Graphic Designers and four Copywriters following suit. As I understand, the morale of the Roanoke employees has significantly decreased recently due to having to work overtime with little, or no notice, and without any compensation. In addition, there are also reports of management rejecting or reworking creative efforts of the Roanoke staff without feedback or consultation, which has contributed to the decrease in morale of the employees. Consequently, these issues…

While the goal of social workers is to protect and enhance the well being of the vulnerable and oppressed, the Belmont report also recognizes working with that population as well. Racial minorities, economically disadvantaged, the very sick, and the institutionalized are part of the vulnerable population in which some may see as easy to manipulate (HHS, 2016). African Americans in the Tuskegee trials were the population of focus during the syphilis research (HHS, 2016). Studies show that the African American community has distrust in doing research when it comes to health because of the Tuskegee research study done in the past (Rogers and Lange, 2013). As social workers it is our job to recognize the harm that has happened in certain populations and to find a way to recover trust in our professional community.…

I feel like I am professionally ready for my senior year placement. I am looking forward to being able to spend much more time and actually see what a social worker does and interact with a social worker on a much different level than previous service learning’s. I believe that being able to interact with individuals at this last site will help me tremendously when it comes to interacting with clients and employees at my senior placement. This service learning helped me to acquire social skills, which will be extremely helpful when it comes to next year. I would like to build on my learning for the next academic year by understanding and reading more about interviewing, assessment, intervention, and evaluation of practice.…

Within the social work practice there is an inherent power differential between practitioner and clients. As I step into a social work role, my social location can affect my work with clients. As a social worker it is important to understand my own unique social location and how oppressions and privileges affect me. How am I uniquely situated in relation to my clients (Girl Action Foundation, 2016)? In understanding my social location, I am essentially questioning what my social location means and challenging pre-conceived assumptions and biases.…

Firstly I would like to express my deepest apologies for the time scale for which I am submitting this appeal, unfortunately when I received my results for the assignment mentioned in the front side of the stage 1 from, I was left feeling rather discouraged. Thus, time was required to come to terms with the situation. As time passed I realised the possible valid grounds for appealing the current grade. Upon convening with my course leader (Carol Williams) I was advised upon the degree to which I hold a valid cause for appeal and steps to take.…
