The internship experience has provided me with further knowledge about animal training and behavior that I have learned outside of my original employment position at the facility. The wide range of duties I am responsible for fits amazingly with my major of psychology. I have managerial positions in which I am responsible for the conduct of staff and volunteers. The information I have learned about psychology in an academia setting has been helpful in an applied setting when working with both people and animals. The experiences I have with animal training in the internship fits exactly with my concentration of animal behavior and learning. My long tern career goal is behavior modification consulting in animals in captive population. My animal training experiences has provided an excellent relationship providing knowledge about that future career.
Internship Statement
I have completed 53.50 hours of my internship. Additionally, my internship experience has been excellent in facilitating knowledge as both a present zoological employee and in my future positions working with animals. This statement relates to my goals because I want to learn more about animal training outside of my current employment position at the site and feel this has been achieved via the internship experience. I have had more hands-on time training animals and because of this have more information on my future career as a behavior consultant for animals in zoological parks.
