Zone Confrence Narrative

Decent Essays
This week it rained a bunch and we tried some tracting. We got a few potential investigators that we need to go check up on this week. This week seemed pretty busy... I cant think of exactly what happened... I'm still learning spanish little by little. We had a zone confrence this week. We talked about not forgetting the basics in missionary work, working hard, and following the spirit throughout the day. All good thing I need to hear. I was really pumped to use all the new things I learned from confrence.

We were told someone had given our whole area free tickets to an indoor soccer game to see the Ontario Furry play! Our only requirements were that we had to bring an investigator have a less active and a member give us a ride to the game.

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

A couple weeks ago, Holy Ghost had its annual service trip to the Dominican Republic. I had heard about the trip from Dr. O’Connor when I did the summer enrichment program in 6th grade. I looked forward to going on the trip when I got to Ghost, and I got the chance this summer. At first I was really nervous, but by the second day there I realized how special the trip truly is. I got to give my Spanish a jog, I got to meet a ton of new people, and I had my eyes opened to a new way of living.…

I have had various experiences in the last two years, but the one I feel is the most significant is the time I spent volunteering for the Detroit Mission Trip. This opportunity presented itself in June of 2014 through my church, Metro South Church. I spent one week, Monday through Friday, each day-all day, commuting from my home in Brownstown to the inner city of Detroit. Each day of this mission trip consisted of various volunteer jobs. I was one of approximately 100 people that engaged in the process of making life better for others.…

(Angel)ine The day Angeline came into my life I didn’t expect for her to change it. One day in mid-December my mom, my brother, Angeline and I were sitting in Angeline’s living room. We were there for somewhat of a prayer visit, to talk with and help each other through God with problems we may need a third-party perspective on. I was silent most of the time because I wasn’t used to or particularly interested in being there.…

There was many small but meaningful interactions through the week that I enjoyed and gained from. For example when someone started to give the oral history of the origins of the Lakota and the values and lessons that could be reaped from these stories. I did not like how fast the week went by. I was pretty busy during the week and I tried to keep a positive attitude.…

Preacher Without a Pulpit Preachers are respected figures of the religious community. I had a chance to follow Pastor William Reed for a week and got to learn more about the man that I see on Sunday mornings. It’s hard to picture the man behind the preacher, but after a few days I realized that my preacher is a man of God but more man than expected. As time went by and the questions were asked I got an incite of his life with and without a pulpit.…

    A. This week for the reporting period I didn’t have the opportunity to observe much because of the short week I had in the agency. However, I did get the chance to direct calls from clients to social workers. I also participated in going shopping with one of the social worker aide’s for foster children. There was also an independent living meeting that took place in our office this week but I didn’t get a chance to sit in on it. Lastly I attended court with my supervisor because she had to testify for a custody battle.…

What Does Faith Mean To Me

In my life at this moment there are a lot of things that I need to have faith with such as to who I should date and marry, what major I should have and whether or not I should continue to go to school here at BYU-Idaho. I feel like that I should make a plan and stick to it because if it is a bad plan then the Lord will let me know if it will hurt me. Sometimes we need to be doing or going towards a goal before the Lord will let us know if we are on the right path. The main change that I thought of is to stick to a plan and unless acted upon to keep to that plan and have faith that everything will work out.…

I asked myself the question “how can we make a long-term effect on a short-term mission trip?” This idea centered around the lessons we were teaching the children throughout the day. I noticed that the children we well informed about God and how to become a Christian. Pastor Vernon gives them lessons every week, probably the same lessons we were giving them. The children were hungry for more than a preschool version of the bible.…
