Despite this constant, the makeup and content of these works tend to grow more violent overtime. More specifically, the television show, The Walking Dead, is a depictions of popular violent media. Although arduous, this show has put tremendous effort into creating monsters that appear as malicious as they actually are. The show has consistently created graphic and realistic zombies. In general, the zombies have cyan colored eyes, but other than that feature, their appearance varies wildly depending on how they died and for how long. In only the first episode of the show, the main character, Rick, encounters a zombified little girl with torn lips. The use of a young girl along with the shocking detail of gore on her face is troubling for both the main character and the audience. As the young girl speeds over to Rick, he shoots her in the head. For the show, the rivalries present between different groups of survivors can be equally as vicious as the conflict between the zombies and humans. In the first few seasons, the primary human antagonist is Shane, who battles for leadership with Rick. However, he is not particularly known for his brutality. Rather, he appears to be intimidating as he schemes for power, but does not purposelessly kill. Much like the zombies however, the human antagonists in the show have been increasingly more violent and unpredictable.
