Horror is a sub-genre of film there are three main sub-genres to horror 1 psychological horror – the story will be about the character’s fear, guilt and beliefs 2 supernatural horror – these films have ghosts and demon’s aliens etc. as the villains with impossible abilities 3 slasher horror – they have a psycho often in a mask killing high school kids in an isolated buildings or towns they often set ate night time to made it scarier. Often the villain will jump out of closets and windows.
scream is a great example of horror it starts with casey becker getting a call then after a chat she figures out that he is watching him and that he has kidnaped her boyfriend he quizzes her about horror she gets it wrong and they get killed then. We meet up with Sydney (the main character) has a chat with her boyfriend in her room there we learn that Sydney’s mother was killed about a year a go. Black comedy typically they make fun of a hopeless situation. The protagonists are usually your unlikely hero with an issue or defect but they will have to push it a side to save the day. The villains are very powerful people that the hero cannot be beaten and they are normally very annoying for the hero’s. in comedy they main characters will often have a sidekick that is the opposite eg zombieland the main character is small has rules that he live by and he is weak but Tallahassee is big strong has no rules and is not scared of everything. Comedies are set in modern time but with someone or thing ruling the earth. The opening sequence will have what has happened to the earth how the protagonist’s lives and the villain and they will make it entertaining by making it
