Zombie Apocalypse Research Paper

In the midst of a zombie apocalypse the first thing that comes to mind is to panic. Everyone running in all different directions, screaming bloody murder, furniture spewed and knocked over, and paper being thrown in the air for no apparent reason. This is not the case in Professor Kitlinski’s Writing Composition class. We have been instructed to separate into our designated groups and organize our new community in an orderly fashion. Medics, engineers, security, hunters and gatherers, and humanities is everything necessary to survive our otherwise disastrous situation. In the effort to develop a plan of action, I will explore what my major’s skills will do to help to the group and community function as well as the humanities group to collectively …show more content…
As a Film, Television, and Radio major my skills may not come in handy in an obvious fashion, but can easily translate using the communication skills necessary into using other available resources. In a classroom we won’t have access to a television or radio broadcast. In order to get creative and contact outside communities, I could use resources such as social media as means of communication. Film, television, and radio are all one-way communication mediums, which allows us to send information but not receive it. Through social media we will be able to send and receive valuable information. It was found that, “...social media use increases during crises and disasters, when some people turn to the Internet and social media to seek or share information or support” (CDC’s Use). The skills necessary to communicate effectively would include active listening to understand the information and practicality to carefully think about what to say to avoid scaring anyone. My role will help the group function by helping conserve our culture and safety by communicating with other groups. The information I gather will be given to another group member who will relay it to the rest of our community. Not only will my role help the community but also my group as a whole can
