AN INSIGHT INTO THE ZOMATO'S REVENUE AND ITS STRATEGIES

Zomato, a small startup reached a status of being amongst the top 25 and most promising website in country in just a span of 2 years. The telephony services and the internet expansion has added to its advantage in making it a success. The rising need and getting convenient access to details of eateries gave birth to this business. It was totally a non-traditional way of innovative thinking which lead to success of Zomato from Zero.

Zomato offered customer: a solution to have access to all the restaurants through a database, the type of food menu, location of the eateries and most importantly their feedback and the reviews. Also ‘on the go mobile apps’

It has launched operations in Sri Lanka, UK, Qatar, South Africa and Philippines. It also launched its operation in Singapore but were forced to roll-back due to conservative nature of the restaurants refusing to share the menus and price online. This made the intake of cash flow imminent for ZOMATO to sustain amongst companies providing similar support services like Yelp, Foursquare, Burrp, …show more content…
These advertisements can be seen under the title “Trending restaurants this week”. In addition, complementary advertisements regarding events in restaurants in the locality accounts for another 5% of the total revenue of ZOMATO.

2) Event Ticket Sales
The tickets for plethora of events happening around at different restaurants are made available through the site, thus providing an interface and working as an e-ticketing partner. The revenue generated is certain percentage of the ticket amount or according to the advertising contract with the restaurant. This source adds to around 15% of the total revenue.

3) Business intelligence and Data analysis tools are widely used by ZOMATO content experts to advice clients on number of issues. To understand demand and crowd patterns, customer tastes and preferences, competitions, etc, ZOMATO maintains a huge database and analyzes them. Thus, indirectly, ZOMATO acts as a consultant to the restaurants, providing them expert solutions to improve the visibility of the restaurant on the online
