For my visual aid speech, I had to think for awhile about something that means a lot to me. In the Ted talk we just watched for week seven, he talked about giving a speech about something that means something to you, because it may mean something to someone else too. This will keep your audience’s attention for the duration of your speech. The first thing that came to mind was my dog Zoey. In my speech I will be talking about three different things where I can use my cute dog, Zoey, in my speech as my visual aid.
Growing up with a dog has many health benefits for you and your family. Before this idea came to mind I had heard theories that dogs make your happier and healthier so it made me want to look deeper into the theories. Here are a few

When my family is sitting around the table eating or when we are in the living room Zoey likes to talk to us. She will sit at our feet, beside our chair, or next to us on the couch and talk until she gets our attention. She is a very social dog. She also lets us know when she needs to go outside or when her food or water are gone by talking to us also.
Zoey is just like any other dog. She loves human food, craves attention, and really enjoys barking at the mailman. Zoey does have some bad habits and wanting table food is one of them. She has her own food and water bowls, but would prefer to eat table food, especially meat and bread. When my mom is making a meal and she opens a package of meat up, even if it is frozen, Zoey is right there under her feet in the kitchen.
Zoey loves attention from all of my family and my friends. When people come over to visit, you can find her in whatever room everyone is in. At night when we are on the couch, she is right there next to you, and when it is time for bed, she is right next to my mom. The only person that Zoey seems to not like, is the mailman. It doesn’t seem to matter who the mailman is, we have had three in her lifetime, she goes crazy from the time she first spots him, or her, until she can no longer see

The morkie, also referred to as a “yorktese,” is a crossbreed between the yorkie and maltese. This particular breed is small, averaging about twelve pounds with a body length of approximately two feet. The hair on these canines can be observed in various lengths and colors, including brown, black, white, and tan. The coat of one specific morkie I have become familiar with is long, black on top and white underneath, with faded brown tufts covering his face. His wide, brown eyes are hidden behind a curtain of fur that droops down from the top of his head, similar to bangs.…

In the novella of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck paints a depressing, but realistic portrait of America in the 1930s. He reveals what it was truly like to be a woman in that time period. Women back then were treated as nothing more than the property of men, they were possessions, they were objects. They were not their own person and the only identity that they had was that of their husband or their father. The role of a housewife was forced onto women, so much so that the only thing they could aspire to be was a stay at home mother.…

For this reason, I love coming home after a hard school day and unwinding while I play with my dog. Another example is the excitement I have witnessed as I am drive up my long gravel driveway and lay eyes on my dog showing his excitement by wagging his tail and jumping up and down as he waits for me to park my truck.
