Zodiac Sign Sagittarius

This is a piece of artwork that I drew and colored at the beginning of last semester. The assignment was to make a symmetrical circle of your zodiac sign. My sign is a Sagittarius so I based the theme around Christmas. Sagittarius are known as an encouraging and positive person. Christmas is a great time of year full of laughter and joy. First, I started off designing my arrow and making the lines straight. The arrow symbolized a Christmas tree and I used the Christmas colors red and green, which are contrasting colors on the color wheel, to symbolize that season. I had to keep turning the circle to make sure it was symmetrical. I added the wavy lines of the Christmas lights. Then I drew the socks hanging from the arrow. I used mostly cool colors that go well together like green, blue, and purple. Then I added in warm colors like red, orange, and yellow. The contrasting colors I used were great to make the artwork pop out. I used organic shapes around the edges and the middle to stand out from the rest of the artwork. …show more content…
The blue background represents the oceans and the magenta and yellow colors look like land masses or continents. Edgar Degas quoted that “art is not what you see but what you make others see” and since this was my first art assignment for my class I think that it turned out
