They belong to the genus Zoanthus phylum Coelenterate, subphylum Cnidarian, class Anthozoa, subclass Hexacorallia and order Zoanthidae. Zoanthid polyps are found in all oceans where they form colonies of separate individuals that are either tightly packed or sparse, depending on the species. There have a wide variety of colours, shapes and sizes. The slimy coating on their surface can be removed by passing sufficient water through it. Zoanthids grow and reproduce more readily under bright light and with regular feeding. The specimens collected were green Zoanthus which measured about 3.8 cm in length.
