Zinc is an essential mineral that can be found in many foods or dietary supplements. The mineral zinc is found in the periodic table with the symbol ZN and has an atomic number of thirty. Zinc is one of the more abundant elements in the Earth’s crust, the twenty-fourth most abundant, and it contains five stable isotopes. This mineral is also known as an essential trace element, meaning the human body only requires a small amount to be considered healthy. One of the health benefits of zinc includes boosts in the immune system, by fighting if bacteria and viruses.
