In conclusion, when people are given authority or power without oversight and leadership, it is abuse waiting to happen. For reasons we may never fully understand, thousands of ordinary people in every country, when they are places in special circumstances, commit evil acts. Acts of heroism are ideal amongst society and enrich humanity. They provide good role models for people and set an example of what prosocial behavior is. Zimbardo said, “we are all heroes in waiting.
