Zika has become popular in Alabama. Zika is a virus that has different modes of transmission. The most common mode of transmission is by Aedes species mosquito (Alabama Department of Public Health, 2018). Mosquitos are more common in Alabama during summer months and look for sites with water to lay eggs in and multiply. A mosquito will bite a person that is infected with Zika and spread the disease by biting another person. Zika is also spread by sex, mother to child, blood transfusion, and lab and healthcare settings (U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, 2018) Zika virus can be dangerous especially for pregnant women. Zika virus can cause complicated pregnancy and severe birth defects to babies. Mothers infected with Zika can pass on
