Zeus, meaning, bright or sky, was born of the parents, Cronus and Rhea. Zeus was the last child of his parents. Cronus, before Zeus was born, was warned by his parents that one of his children would over throw him. So for each of the children that Cronus had, the child would be swallowed by him. However, Rhea, tricked Cronus into thinking Zeus was in a blanket, although, it was just a rock in a blanket. Rhea tricked Cronus, so she could save Zeus. Rhea then had sent Zeus to the Greek island of Crete. On the island of Crete, there was special dameons called Cuertes. When Zeus arrived on the island, he cried, so the Cuertes would hit their shields so that Zeus 's father would not hear him, because if his dad hear him, he would swallow him. …show more content…
Zeus and his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, had a draw to see who would become the new King of the Gods. Zeus then won the draw and became the new King of the Gods. He put his kingdom Zeus believed in the justice system. Zeus, along with his two brothers, ruled Olympus. Zeus was one of the twelve gods that lived on Mount Olympus. The children of Cronus, were greatly admired. Zeus harshly punished the people who committed crimes, but for those who did good things was rewarded by Zeus. One of the examples of Zeus’s punishment, was when Zeus punished Atlas, because of his role in the Titanomachy. Zeus gave the punishment of making Atlas support the heavens for eternity. Zeus was the ruler of the heavens and the world according to Greek mythology. When Zeus punished men, instead of a harsh punishment, he instead would punish the men with giving them women. When Pandareus stole the golden dog that meant a lot to Zeus, he turned Pandareus into stone. That is, because that golden dog, guarded Zeus when he was a baby, so it was a very special dog. The Greeks refer to Zeus as the god of all natural phenomena on the sky and everything. The people of Greece admired Zeus so much, that many would say that they were related to Zeus, just to gain popularity. Zeus was referred to as a wise, merciful, fair, and prudent god. Although Zeus was referred to as a great and powerful God, he was also very destructive. Zeus would cause great storms with lightning and shoot lightning bolts at people. He had many kids before he was even married, and he had many affairs. Metis, who was the goddess of prudence, was Zeus’s first love. Zeus married his sister ‘ Hera’. Zeus and Hera had three kids together. At the wedding, there was a nymph that was named Chelone, that would not come to Zeus 's wedding. So for punishment for that action, Zeus transformed her into a tortoise. Zeus and his wife Hera, turned King Haemus and Queen Rodhope into mountains as a punishment. One of the most famous children created by Zeus, was Hercules (Hercales). Hercules is a legend in Greece, and was Zeus 's favorite son. Herucles was at Zeus 's side to help fight and defeat whatever needed conquered. Hercules was and still is to this day, very well known as a very strong and brave leader.
