Zeus wasn't all just lightning bolts and thunder, he was the deity of the universe, the most powerful God, and the ruler of the Olympians. He punished those who displeased him mostly oathbreaker and liars (Richardson, 3). Being the father of men, he watched over his people rewarding charity, fairness, and truth, while punishing lying and wickedness. Zeus had his flaws as a husband and father, did what his ancestors did before him, but was a strong leader, and solved many problems in the Greek mythology world.
Zeus’s birth story was like no other. The Titans Cronus and Rhea gave birth to Zeus after five other children. But, Cronus feared that his children would soon take his throne so he swallowed every child Rhea gave birth to. When Rhea was going to give birth to her sixth child she tricked him by giving Cronus a rock instead of Zeus. Rhea sent Zeus to Crete where he would be raised by Nymphs (Roniotis, 2). Zeus used his unlimited power and used it to punish people and change history. He had flaws like everyone, but was admired for his peace. His temper sometimes got out of hand, but he would have a reason for being upset. According to “Work and Days” by Hesiod, “Zeus was a carefree god who was wise, fair, just, and merciful.” He was also very unpredictable, nobody knew what he was going to do next. This is why there’s so many opinions on him. In one story he could be all peaceful and kind, and in the next he’s chaining Prometheus to a rock. But I think he wasn't as bad as most people think. He always tried to do the best for him and his people. Although he had affairs while he was married he had a good side to him. He was a good leader because of both sides of him, and he solved many disagreements in the greek
