One difference between Zenit and the dog from “To Build a Fire” is their relationships with their owners. Zenit and his owner have a very close relationship and Zenit is treated like family, while the dog in “To Build A Fire” has no relationship with his owner nor is he valued to him. The dog from “To Build a Fire” is treated like an object to his owner and as a result they have no bond. Another difference between Zenit and the dog in “To Build a fire” is their characteristics or their personalities. Zenit’s personality is loving and loyal. When Zenit’s owner is harmed in battle Zenit stays by him. This shows that Zenit cares for his owner and loves him. In the story “To Build a Fire” the dog’s personality is very weary and untrusting. I know this because in the story when the dog’s owner orders it to come to him the dog hesitates and doesn't go to him, but snarls and stays away. The last difference is that Zenit is a military dog. Zenit worked with his owner finding bombs hidden by the Taliban fighters. Zenit had an extremely dangerous and important job, while the dog in “To Build a Fire” didn’t have much of a purpose or a job besides just going along with the ride. Some similarities between Zenit and the dog from “To Build a Fire” are that they’re both traveling through extreme conditions.
