Eric Walters message in the novel ”End of days” analyzes the theme that humans thrive no matter what the situation is. Character development leads to theme by how we feel for Dr. Sheppard, Parker and Joshua Fitchett. We are also lead to them by the examination of the conflict and its resolution. Finally, Eric Walters’s choices of figurative and descriptive language leave the reader feeling biased, which also leads to the theme. Character development leads to theme by how we feel for the characters.…
You should always make the choice that feels right to you. When you make decisions you should trust your instincts. Eli the main character from, The Compound, written by S.A. Bodeen, did this well. He knew his dad was trying to hide something from him. When he started finding clues in his dad´s office, he started to realize his dad has been keeping secrets from his own family for the last six years while they were in the compound.…
Over the last ten years I have had many influential leaders give me guidance and mentorship that directly affected my ability to be a strong Noncommissioned Officer. MSG Howard is one of those leaders that epitomizes my image of what an Army Leader is supposed to reflect. His superior ability to bring a team together and draw out their individual strengths has always driven me to mimic his example. MSG…
Home is a strange word because it can contain so many meanings. It can mean things such as habitat for living things, or it could mean a place where you feel as if nothing could hurt the people in it. You feel happiest when found at home, and it feels like a sort of heaven. The idea of a home relates to this text because Long had to leave his in order to be safe. He had to enter a new home, where he felt like a stranger.…
"I guess you could say we're family." (Barbara Kingsolver, The Bean Trees, page 310) I’ve always said that endings are my favorite parts of stories. They can turn a mediocre or good story into one that leaves you in disarray. I think this quote is the most essential because while it is at the very end of the book, I feel that it is Taylor’s final turning point.…
Although overwhelmed with a “terrifying sense of desperation, of utter separation from the world, of complete isolation”, he worked to look for the ever eluding solution to his…
As a rule, what surrounds a character in a book, either a different culture, or geography, tends to change their moral principles. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, is a perfect example of how even though someone has everything they need, they can end up doing insane things. Mccandless, the main character, is affected by extreme environmental surroundings, because his thinking shifts from being brave to feeling morally guilty . Cristopher, used to have all he wished, but because of his solipsistic personality, this wasn't enough.…
Since running for the office of Clerk, Seketta “Zee” Skoloda has begun speaking more often about the issues that inspire her. ‘I do have a great interest in seeing that people who are seeking services, whether private or government matters, are treated with respect and concern. Too often customers are greeted in a manner that suggests annoyance or worse’, Skoloda states. Her belief is that this is a reflection of where we, America, Stafford, society, are going. ‘There is a brusqueness in our character now.…
One With the Elements Authors of poems, novels, and plays use elements to make the audience feel a certain way. The author has to make choices on many things; how well they make those choices determines how successful the text is. They decide what characters to add, their personalities, and how to introduce them. Along with characters, they have to pick a setting and time period that are logical for the plot of the story.…

" There, she discovered Zelig's painful past and how he truly felt about Dr. Fletcher. She used this information to "...deeply probe and restructure [Zelig's mind]. " While Zelig was conscious, Dr. Fletcher "...[provide the] love and affection..." he had expressed a need for while he was hypnotized. Dr. Fletcher knew that "...it [was] imperative [as a] psychoanalyst..." to understand the origins of Zelig's behavior and drive that away rather than messing with his physical form. The therapy was ultimately successful; Zelig no longer felt the need to manipulate his appearances and freely expressed his personal opinions.…
This eventually causes problems as he is noticed and Dr. Eudora Fletcher, a psychoanalyst, desperately tries to cure him. According to Fromm, Zelig is subduing his unconventional thoughts because of the possibility of being an outcast. Fromm would say Zelig’s out of ordinary behavior began when…

As I compare and contrast my own narratives with the stories of Tashi and Lobsang, some additional connections I’ve made between where/when, why, what, and how they learned and how I have learned include the aspects of lives , what we already knew, what we were curious about, the risks we were taking, and the partners we had for the dialogs. In the beginning, Tashi was analyzing her new environment and “siblings” from a distance and tested the water by behaving in certain ways that annoyed many of other children at school. As the result of her chosen actions, she received responses from her new friends and teachers. Lobsang, being a good listener and an open minded monk, learned that Tashi was reacting in such a way because of her background.…
