The tragedy Hamlet by William Shakespeare has been turned into a film that was remade many times by different directors. However, the two most well-known directors for their screenplay of Hamlet was Franco Zeffirelli and Kenneth Branagh. Both were successful in turning the Hamlet into a movie that catches their audience attention. Zeffirelli and Branagh each has their different interpretations, most importantly Ophelia. Throughout both films, the audience will see the characters experience revenge, betrayal, love, and death. With much concern and enchantment for Hamlet’s life, the audience often forget about the “fair Ophelia”. Furthermore, the audience pay little attention to Ophelia’s pain and grief, which she suffers and deals with alone.
