ZapIt does not want to make that mistake with its revolutionary smartphone application for grocery purchases. In our assessment the buying mood of the customer in buying our product is moderate. Acclimation to new technology or a new way of conducting business takes time. An example of this is the self-service checkout lanes in a supermarket. Years ago customers were apprehensive but after the pros were made evident, customers started using them and enjoyed the benefits. So we feel there will be an initial apprehension to our application, but once customers start seeing how much it cuts down on grocery shopping, it will be a guaranteed success. …show more content…
Smartphone applications are becoming more common and customers are getting comfortable. An example of this is the use of a smartphone application to schedule a flight, book a seat and check in via barcode on their smartphone. Pertaining to the need of a new firm in the market with our offering or geographic location, our assessment is moderate. Since we will be the first to offer this type of product we hope to monopolize the retail industry by creating versions to be used at different vendor stores, such as Walmart and Target. Business trends were assessed as moderate because businesses are slowly moving to smartphone applications, enabling business to be conducted more efficiently and provide instantaneous real-time data. And finally, ZapIt is currently unaware of any other firms entering the market for this type of application. Below in Figure 5, is a summation of selections for the Target Market Entry Timeliness Assessment

As companies started to acknowledge the value of customer data and how that data can be used to increase profits, many companies were willing to go a little further than others in acquiring that data. An example of one of these companies is the department store Nordstrom.
