Strengths and Weaknesses of Zama American Middle High School Zama American Middle-High School is located in Camp Zama, which is known for its beauty, award winning communities, and outstanding services. However, unlike the camp itself, Z.A.M.H.S. is slightly less glorious. While at Z.A.M.H.S. faculty and students are friendly, and the community is very judgement-free, the school’s lack of unity, opportunity, and organization are the prominent characteristics. At Z.A.M.H.S., the faculty members are incredibly friendly are willing to lend assistance. Even teachers that I just met that day are willing to share information and supplies to help me with my classes. I haven't had to fight, or constantly irritate my counselor or any teacher to get what I want. It may be because of the lack of students on campus, but every teacher I met so far seemed to somewhat genuinely care about my personal well being. Likewise the students I have encountered have been extremely friendly and welcoming. I was able to make friends quickly and I haven’t had any problems with my classmates. Most students are very open, and I can have enjoyable and hilarious conversations with people I just met that day. …show more content…
At my old school, we constantly judged other people and ourselves based upon “unspoken laws” and made-up stereotypes. Such as: Koreans did Key Club, Filipino boys did breakdance, taking Geometry as a freshmen meant you weren't smart, and JROTC kids were awkward weirdos who were unathletic but still needed that PE credit. Coming to the ZAMHS community for me was extremely refreshing in the lack of these type of societal norms. And thanks to that, I was able to become friends with different types of people who I probably would've never approach

Does an HBCU offer an African American student more than a PWI? An HBCU, “is a Historically Black College or University, that was founded by our ancestors to educate us on our history as African-American descents.” Before HBCUs were a thing, African Americans were free slaves that were not allowed to get an education. This did not stop them from learning a way to read, write, and calculate math. The Philadelphia Quakers founded the Institute of Colored Youth, so the children will have the opportunity to get an education.…

I remember my sister crying the night before her flight, nervous of her transition to Cornell. However, during her first winter break back, my sister came back with a happy face. She spent the following weeks talking about her hallmates, lunch with her professors, and her highly intellectual peers. My brother soon followed suit. They both talked about the intimate relationships they were able to foster through opportunities to interact with the faculty, such as college-wide barbeques and eating dinner at professors’ homes.…

The school that I have decided to try to do service learning at is Westside Elementary in Springville, Utah. Westside is a coed public school in the Nebo School district. I grew up in this area and attended this school growing up and I felt it was a great school to attend. The Nebo School District's mission statement is "we engage, empower, and collaborate to ensure student success". The school received a 5 out of 10 rating and the neighborhood is quite large, but for the most part is quiet and has a low crime rate.…

Comparing Freemont High to Maryville High High school should be a place where teens feel comfortable, and to a certain extent, free to make their own decisions. At Freemont High School (FHS), Jonathan Kozol interviewed the students’ attendance, and all of them said this school was none of the things it is supposed to be. Though Maryville High School, a small town East Tennessee school, is extremely different than Freemont High School, an inner city school in Los Angeles, at first glance, the two actually have a few things in common. When looking at what Jonathan Kozol’s wrote in his article about FHS, a Los Angeles high school called, “Freemont High School”, written in 2005, three similarities arise: crowded lunches, unsanitary conditions, and freedom. At Freemont High School there are…

The atmosphere was very welcoming, it seemed more like a casual get together rather than a meeting. The flow was very well organized and the format was well put together, similar to a lesson plan. There were hardly any pauses, it was just a continuous conversation. No one over talked anyone, every individual was being heard. The members were very supportive and attentive to each other.…

Cultural and Ethical Aspects: DNP Project Self-reflection Beginning in high school, I became aware of the differences that people made regarding group associations. There were those who were intellectual – competing for valedictorian and salutatorian, musicians – concert and marching bands, technically skilled – agricultural and machine oriented, and then there was me. Most students would only associate with their specific groups; however, I would associate and have friends in a variety of different groups.…

I first met Azariah through Ascension, the after-school enrichment program run by St. John’s Parish. It was created with the mission to provide emotional and academic support for the children who live in this neighborhood and attend one of Worcester’s lowest performing schools, Union Hill. Azariah’s bear hugs envelop me with love and excitement when she greets me each day that I spend volunteering to teach her reading and math skills and act as a big sister. Behind her smile and warm embrace is a young girl who has not been given many opportunities to grow and reach her potential. She has trouble concentrating and does not comprehend how studying is going to be of value to her life.…

Honestly, I am an undergrad student at MCPHS-Boston, and to tell you the truth, unless you are naturally intelligent, and/or willing to make big sacrifices and go through hard struggles, this college is not for you. I am not telling you this because I am not a hard working, unmotivated, or lazy student, who is angry at the school for receiving bad grades. It is more because I have experienced this school and have found out many things that would have made me not come here in the first place had I known before. The main thing that comes to mind here is that this school is ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY. Which is why they have such a high acceptance rate.…

SCHOOL: Children of all races in school is an amazing thing to see wherever you are because children weren’t always able to go to school or weren’t allowed. A child in school getting an education is where the power is. In school there are always crowds students that are just alike so if you’re different then you’re not welcomed into ones group. So the groups in school are the popular kids (rich or confident), athletes (jocks), gothic (emo kids), people in the band (band geeks) and the rebels. No matter how hard you try to stay away from these groups you end being in one or being a loner.…
