“Taylor contracted a virulent stomach ailment that may have been cholera or typhoid fever, and he died five days later. More than 100,000 people lined the funeral route to see their hero laid to rest.”(cem.va.gov) During the 1800s, Americans were in the conflict with Mexico and the Native Americans over the control of North America. The American relied on their military, and Zachary Taylor was a major contributor. Taylor had enormous military success, and had a positive impact on the US history. Before the United States formally declared war on Mexico, General Zachary Taylor defeats a superior Mexican force in the Battle of Palo Alto. James K.
