Zach Verlander Experiment

The team leader for this experiment was Kyle McClain. Zach Verlander was supposed to be the recorder for this lab, but since he dropped the class I took his place as the recorder for the experiment. Greg was in charge of the backside of the heat exchanger apparatus, while Kyle controlled the front side of the apparatus. Greg monitored the pressure gauge of the steam inlet and measured the steam inlet temperature off of the temperature gauge. Kyle used the thermocouple meter to read the pressure of the steam outlet, water inlet, and water outlet streams in the heat exchanger.

Exp 6: forced convection
The team leader for this experiment was supposed to be Zach Verlander, but Kyle McClain valiantly took his place as team leader. I was the recorder for this lab. Greg took the mass of the two cylinders, measured the circumference, and the height of the two different cylinders. Zach Verlander was the recorder for this lab. Greg and Kyle tag teamed to calibrate the flow rate of the water using a graduated cylinder to measure the volume and a stopwatch for the time. Zach was in charge of controlling the computer system and recording the data it displayed. After calibrating the flow rate, Kyle was in charge of one pressure sensor, while I moved the other pressure sensor from spot to spot. Having two people manage the pressure sensor decreased the chance of mixing up the two sensors. Kyle also placed a rubber band on one pressure sensor, to minimize confusion. I also measured the diameters of the pipes. The pressures at eight different fittings were measured on the first day of the lab. On the second lab day the pressures at the eight varying fittings were measured at four different flow rates, for a total of five flow
