Due to his timid and not-so-confident demeanor, polite manner of speaking, plus his not-so-tall stature and prominent hairstyle too, probably, Yuugi was a target for derision quite often in his younger years. Another reason for his bullying was the fact that he leaned towards playing various games by himself, being the childish boy that he was. Board games, card games, video games, puzzles, and games of all kinds are his forte, and being raised in a game shop owned by his fellow game-loving grandfather sure encouraged his propensity towards them. Despite the fact that he had defended a couple of his bullies (Jounouchi and Honda) against an even worse bully and enticed them into friendship, Yuugi wished for friends after finishing the Ancient …show more content…
Over time, he became closer to the spirit, enough to confide much to him, and aided him in return with his journey to recover his name and his memories. As a result of him exercising his nature of compassion, selflessness, and pacifism in the name of friendship, Yuugi made an abundance of friends along the way and made sure to cheer on his companions during their own duels too. Yuugi always saw the good in people, since his opponents certainly couldn't be that awful! Even if he was somewhat trusting to a fault and naïve at times, enough to hand over his Puzzle to a "fortune-teller" who ran off with it. Despite the smidgen of gullibility, he's fairly clever especially when it comes to card games and any other games. Additionally, he was rather forgiving and he was hardly a petty person who kept grudges. Truly, the best way to make Yuugi irate was to ruthlessly target him or his friends, although his feelings would never turn to hatred. What a sweetheart. Yuugi and the spirit eventually learned that the latter had been a Pharaoh and undoubtedly had a tiring destiny in store for

In Walter Wink’s article “Beyond Just War and Pacifism” he does not believe war should ever be justified. He gave a helpful understanding for the complexity and opacity of human violence. In a broader view Wink sees a hidden dimension not apart from physical reality and human society but grounded within the social world. Wink calls this hidden reality “The domain of the Powers”. Wink argues that war can never be just because justice requires fairness on both sides and war there could never be that.…

Peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society. We, as Americans, have seen this countless times in our history. Peaceful resistance has spurred the passage of multiple amendments to the Constitution, as well several Acts of Congress. Not only do the people today see it as a means of speaking out to a Congress trapped in a bubble of D.C. politics, our founders found it a useful means for expressing their grievances. Thomas Jefferson “thought of rebellion as an element in forcing a moral decision rather than as a weapon designed to conquer” (Mirkin).…

Peaceful resistance positively affects our society, despite the negative actions that may be unjustly inflicted on those participating in civil disobedience. Peaceful resistance against a law does not harm another individual or infringe on another's rights. According to Henry David Thoreau, "[a]ll men recognize the right to revolution... the right to refuse allegiance to, and to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable," a statement that outlines when it is acceptable to break the law peaceably. Acts of civil disobedience are intended to draw attention to an issue and generate a political or social conversation in order to eventually bring justice to the protester in question, such as Rosa Parks' decision to remain in the "whites only" section of a Montgomery bus in 1955. While peaceful resistance does not always have its desired affect or bring about the change desired, many peaceful movements have been able to succeed, perhaps not on the legislative level, but on the moral battleground.…

Assess the Athenians’ argument and actions from the standpoint of pacifism and just war theory. Which position do you find most compelling, and why? Just War theory portrays a practical look at the morality of war in comparison to pacifism, allowing the opportunity to form international procedures and protocol in an attempt to control conflict. During The Peloponnesian War the Athenians offered a valid and in-depth argument on their views of justice in war, over time this has developed into many different perspectives on the place of war in international politics, most noticeably pacifism and just war theory.…
