It is necessary that anyone working within the Youth Justice system obtains a permanent residency in Australia or Australian Citizenship, is absent of a criminal record and has passed an identification and integrity check by their specific employer. Before commencing work, an individual must hold a current First Aid Certificate, a working with children's check, and, not necessarily but encouraged, a drivers licence. This is to ensure that the worker is safe and not a risk to the community, as they are working closely with other individuals.
In all, no specific qualification or experience is compulsory for individuals within the Youth Justice field. Employers will closely evaluate the characteristics of a potential employees, and their willingness to work towards building positive outcomes for trouble individuals.
