Regarding the Transition of Youth Group Leadership
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Most of our churches are in decline due to a lack of young adults and their children. It is no surprise as the older members die out there is no one to fill their seats. For whatever reason, a generation has been convinced that Christianity is either false, subjective or simply an ancient moral code.
The good news is we have time to turn this ship around. We all know that children are the future and it appears our church is very much focused on them. This focus on raising the children in a Christian environment is a great step in stopping the decline of Christianity.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
I will add that it is not only up to the Pastor or our leaders to disciple the children in our church. It is up to each parent and member to live as an example of Christ. We must each talk the talk and walk the walk. As a leader, I only have a few hours a week as a disciple, but as a parent or grandparent you have so much more time and influence on these children. Please take time to discuss Christianity with your children and to have hard conversations about morality and the world.
On behalf of our Youth Group I would like to thank each one of you for your continued support. During this leadership transition, I do not want to make any major changes to this successful Youth Group. Therefore, Lyndon and Lonna will remain involved. We want to continue to get out of the classroom to make more disciples and perform mission work in our community.
Cassie and I would like to thank you for welcoming us members of your church family and trusting us to be leaders. We have had no negative encounters with any of the members and truly feel the presence of God in our congregation. Thank you again for your continued

It’s inconceivable as well as unbelievable to think that caring wholistically for one another wasn’t so essential for the church or most Christians 50 years or so ago as it is today. But, all praise to God for illuminating minds and guiding hearts over the years and bringing us to where we’re at today in our journey of bringing the gospel and the work of Jesus Christ to others as Christians. The work of caring wholistically for our neighbors, God’s image-bearers has just begun, and God is well and active in it more than ever before. Again, all praise to Him because 50 years ago, there’s rarely 30 churches that openly proclaim and carry out the work of caring wholistically for other humans on this earth. But today, by the grace of God, there…

TITLE The Next Christendom by Philip Jenkins is a non-fiction work about the growth and changing of Christianity from a predominately Western religion to a religion that is becoming more concentrated in the South. In the opening portion of the first chapter, his goal is already made clear when Philip Jenkins states that, “the center of gravity in the Christian world has shifted inexorably away from Europe, Southward to Africa and Latin America, and Eastward, toward Asia,” (1). He goes on to emphasize that this shift will only continue in the coming years, as he expects and has backed his claims with research, the Westerner Christians have slowed their growth while the Southern Christians have been and will continue to grow in number.…

This shift away from the gospel began as an attempt to ‘keep up with the times’ and draw millennials into the church. For years, Christians have struggled to reach the younger generations with the gospel, but millennials have proven to be an exceedingly difficult people group to reach even though they make up a large portion of the world's population. In fact, Kara Powell tells us in her article, Put Away the Skinny Jeans, that “young adults ages 18–29 make up 22 percent of the adult US population, (yet) they represent less than 10 percent of US churchgoers.” Due to this deficiency in attendance within the millennial generation, Christians have turned to what we think will make them happy, entertained, and keep them involved with a local church, which inadvertently makes church more focused on ourselves.…

    Crisis In North America

Answer – Guder claims that there is a crisis within the North America church; however, I would have to disagree with his term ‘crisis.’ In as much as the evidence is true and there are clear symptoms, such as dwindling numbers, lack of biblical understanding, confusion and division within the church of North America, I believe this is a gift (Barrett 2). Jesus is clearing out the remnants of ‘Christendom,’ which has highjacked the true mission of the church. For too long, the church of North America has been filled with well-meaning people and leaders, but having lost their way, focused on comfort and preservation, rather than the transformation of lives, communities and the world. All the risk, challenge and sending was replaced with the…

Recently Christians’ persecution has been on the rise, at the same time the churches seem to be going back to their roots. According to the World Watch List, which is produced by the Open Doors USA (2016), a non-denominational mission supporting persecuted Christians in over 60 countries, persecution of Christians worldwide is on a rising trend. In the Bible, the early Christians through their house churches demonstrated to the world God’s plan for the salvation of the world. According to Filson (1939), “the house church was a vital factor in the church's development during the first century, and even in later generations.” (p. 112)…

Christianity has preached the gospel message for epochs now. Throughout the ages, cultures have rejected it for several reasons. Today, the American culture may view the gospel message as outdated. Furthermore, the American Postmodern culture negatively perceives the gospel as exclusive since it proclaims to be the only way to enter heaven. Moreover, since the culture seems to believe that people are inherently good, it undesirably views the gospel.…

Being able to stay focused and determined helped me to reach these accomplishments. When I set a goal for myself, as I did with those accomplishments, I have to achieve the goal because I don’t like to fail; it is something that I can’t and won’t accept. This past year in football I was faced with a great deal of adversity. Early in the football season I received two concussions which resulted in me not being able to play the rest of the season.…

“In every association of human beings there needs to be a way of resolving disputes and differences of opinion concerning guilt or innocence and varying interpretation of basic law”. The book The Organization of the United Methodist Church, written by Jack Tuell does a good job of clarifying the politics behind the Methodist Church. I will admit, I am much more drawn to the history behind the Methodist tradition itself as it tells our story as a community of believers. However, it appears we need some sort of order for things to run smooth…or not. …

Role of the Group Leader In the Adlerian group, the role of the leader is to create a safe and trusting environment. All the articles that were reviewed in the paper showed that the leader was able to create a safe a trusting environment for the group members to share. In my experience as the group leader, I failed to achieve this task as per my member’s feedback. The week one’s format of Hedtke’s (2010) dissertation suggests to provide the group with “a brief explanation of the group structure, issues of consent, group confidentiality, and logistical details, as well as personal introductions” (p. 175).…

When asked what are his goals for his youth ministry my old youth pastor, Mr. Beardsley, told me, “I want students to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Simply knowing about him is not enough, I want them to know him! To experience his presence and voice in their own lives and to recognize that they have a story to tell, a story that is a part of God’s story for mankind. As far as knowledge goes, I just want them to have an intimate knowledge of who he is, what he has done and how he calls them to live. There is a lot that goes into this knowledge, but that is really dependent on where they are at and how committed they are to learning.…

Children in Church: A Life-Changing Decision One Sunday morning, a family with several children attends a service at a typical church. Rather than going into the children’s church, all five kids stay with their parents, remaining fairly quiet and attentive throughout the service. Afterwards, the parents are congratulated by many members of the church, and the children are praised as being “amazing” and “so well-behaved”. Why is this such a surprising and unusual occurrence?…
