Over the last three years the number of youth concussions has increased rapidly and we need to put an end to it. Concussions are harmful for the brain and as you get older, things can happen to your brain that aren’t good such as nausea, confusion and other problems. A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that can occur after an impact to your head or after a whiplash-type injury that causes your head and brain to shake quickly back and forth. Approximately 44 million boys and girls participate in organized youth sports programs. Tackle football is one of most popular youth sports in the United States, with about 3 million youth athletes, 1.1 million high school athletes, and 100,000 college athletes participating in the sport annually.
