Research process 1 – the youth and adult political leanings survey
For the first part of my research project I have created a youth and adult political leanings survey to show the social and political attitudes of young people towards particular issues. Questions include economic issues such as taxation, foreign policy matters such as when Australia should go to war and tackles the hot social issues of our day such as refugees and abortion. My target audience for my youth political leanings survey will be the Concordia populace. That way I can be sure that the majority of respondents would fit into the ‘youth’ category and hence reflect the political views of young people. If there was an issue or a dilemma that needed an instant answer, an internet source would give me my results quickest. If I was to search up information or data from other countries it would require the internet. My survey and interview are restricted to opinions within a certain jurisdiction. For example if I wanted to see what young people think about the issue of climate change the US, I would have to analyse data on the internet. The Pew Research Centre is a think tank that provides information on social issues, public opinion, and demographic trends shaping the world. Millions of dollars are spent each year analysing attitudes and opinions and provides information with credibility and without bias. Newspaper archives and opinion pieces would also provide respectable trustworthy information, although some material may be subject to bias. The majority of my questions lack a specific (location/source) in which I intend to search. Most sources will be filtered through an internet web search on Google or other search engines.
How do you plan to search efficiently for the answers for each question?
News articles and opinion pieces are easily accessible through a search using Google News. Google News compiles millions of news articles throughout the internet and searches can be refined and categorized by date or country. There are other various advanced search options within Google that will allow me to obtain credible material. Searches could be filtered by country if I were to seek information from a specific location, or date if I needed data that dated before a specific period. I might also make use of database of published articles, for example EBSCOHOST.
How will you evaluate your
