Your song “Pretty Hurts” is quite significant with “Flawless” being on the same album. “Pretty Hurts” discussed all of society’s beauty standards. Your music video used clips to show the negative effects of beauty pageants and the expectations on how women should look. Your character that you represented showed a woman that is struggling with her body image and the pressure she is under to look a certain way. Your character portrays the pressure of what society expects from us. The pressure brought onto women makes women self-conscious and want to harm themselves such as making themselves sick. Some days even I stare at myself in the mirror and poke and prod my face and body. What you said, “Perfection is the disease of a nation” means so much.
