Emmett Louis Till, an African American teenager born in Chicago, was brutally murdered in the early hours of August 28, 1955 in Mississippi when he was only 14 years old. His case has served as a reference for the Civil Rights Movement. Emmett was born in Chicago on July 25, 1941, the city where he lived with his mother Mamie Carthan (1921-2003). In the summer of 1955, they received the visit of their uncle Moses Wright, who told him stories about life in the Mississippi delta that aroused great curiosity in the region and a great desire to visit Emmett. I wish it materialized when his mother, after having refused outright at first, finally allowed him to return with his uncle after the visit, but not before warning him about the huge differences…

I am choosing to write about Heracles, otherwise known as Hercules, because he is a fascinating and in my opinion, the greatest Greek hero with an interesting background to him. Heracles is so honorable that he is one of the individuals who sail with Jason as an Argonaut. His original story is concerning the origin of labours, where Heracles undergoes a series of tasks in order to gain immortality, amongst being forgiven for his what he committed during his temporary madness. In the “simplest version”, it is said that Heracles goes mad as Hera brought it on to him and murders his wife Megara, along with his three children that he had with her. He then goes on a purification journey and in all of the versions; only some slightly altered positions…

When reading this play for the first time I believed strongly that the deaths were to be solely blamed on Hera. The Goddess who out of jealousy had Heracles go through the twelve labors and then sent the Goddess of Madness, Lyssa, to put Heracles in a rage so deep that he killed his wife and children. “Heracles: Who would pray to such a goddess? One who because of a woman, in jealousy over Zeus’ union, destroyed Greece’s benefactor, who was not at all blameworthy”. (Heracles, lines 1308-1310).…

Throughout the play, Coriolanus has been an onerous character to interact with by other characters. This could be due to his abrupt and spurned upbringing by his mother Volumnia, or the fact that his own born nature encompasses violence, anger and war. It is believed that Coriolanus’ mother is the main reason for his distasteful personality, because she is the architect of everything about him. Many people believe that children grow up to reflect how they have been treated.…
