She remained uneducated, and extremely poor, all things that Owen had hated growing up. The strong Baptist brimstone views Margaret held were especially intense. In fact, the woman’s beliefs were so different from Lelia’s Methodist upbringing that she found herself in disbelief that a human being could think that way.
Lelia knew that Margaret regarded her as a tad snobbish. Though not Lelia’s intentions, she was.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay with this rowdy bunch for the entire week?” Lelia turned from the sink, where she scrubbed the last of the pans from their Thanksgiving meal.
