“Thanks for your concern Raz, but I’m fine.” I say while trying to grab his arm to give him a bit of comfort “I’ll find another Ora if it helps you.”

“I can’t wait to find out what my true destiny is!’ I can. “Can’t you River?” my little sister wonders looking upon my expression which wasn’t as happy as it used to be.

“I’m going out for a walk.” I reply grabbing my coat “Tell mom and dad I’ll be home late.” and without waiting for the questions I was about to be interrogated with, I was out of door.

"Play along River so you or family won't get hurt." a cold voice enters my ear. Walking and playing along with the stranger with a dangerous grip on my arm. Guiding me through a strange and dangerous part of town people my age are not allowed to go near. As I take a look around I see the reason why we’re not allowed. All the building close to falling down, the restaurants and cafes look as if they have suffered in a fire. The people were the worst, and scariest, with the inferus’ faces covered in burns and scars, and those who were lutom clay were cracked and chipping off. “This way.” my kidnapper spoke while pushing me through a glass door and pulling me out of my thoughts. With her jet black hair flowing down her back like a waterfall. Her ocean blue eyes looking at me without any emotion. As I look towards my other kidnappers seeing their similarities, siblings I suppose. They look like twins if you think of it, except for their eyes, her eyes were like the ocean and his was like the

Rain had begun to fall again. Thick drops of crystalline water fell slowly and then all at once, striking the tin roof of Susan Mallard's Seattle home. Once again, she was sitting in her armchair reading whatever book she had plucked from her shelf without looking, turning the pages absently as the rain poured harder around her. Despite, this being a nightly routine, she never actually read the books, she would sit for hours looking at what might as well have been empty pages. Written words on a page contained no essence for her anymore, she had pondered over them for years and had bled them dry of any meaning they had.…

The slums of Aberlan were already ash, the wooden hovels easy kindling for the fire. The once extravagant marketplace was ablaze now too, as the horde of invaders moved fast towards the keep. People so often wonder what happens to us when we die, but all humankind can do is speculate. Mother used to tell me that when people we love die, they go to heaven. They are never truly away from us and soon we will see them again. I remember sitting alone on a creaky fold-out chair at Father's funeral looking around at the tear stained faces. I couldn't help but wonder: if we really believe this is true, then why do we cry when they die?…
