Compare And Contrast Essay About My Grandpa

“You may only be one person in the world, but you may be the world to one person.” That quote is hanging on my bathroom wall. One thing my grandpa has taught me is grace and love. Despite both of our failures, we still love each other, and that inspires me. Since my birth, he has loved me, and, due to some health complications and answered prayers from my childhood, he lives with my family today. With his recent presence, I have been encouraged by the way that his compassion for me is still present, no matter what situation he is in. For as long as I can recall, my Poppy Tom has been making jokes. When I come back from the pool, he asks me if the water was wet, and when I am drinking milk, he asks me if I have ever milked a duck. He laughs about times like when a lady from Walmart said his glasses won’t fit because his ears are crooked. The jokes never stop, despite whatever goes on in life. Most importantly, he has always been there for me. Constantly, even though he lives three hours away and has to take a train or bus down, he visits us. He is at all my important events, and he makes sure to call me and tell me he will be down after his next doctor’s …show more content…
After a stressful amount of testing and doctors’ visits, he officially lives with us. To cure his sickness, he will begin chemotherapy at Hershey Medical Center shortly, and multiple visiting nurses come to our house a week. He has a walker and cannot move around as good anymore, but he still cracks jokes like normal. Just the other night, we had a great time commenting about each other’s big ears and crooked noses. I am now forced to stop being lazy, and, instead, help my Poppy move around and get food, but I don’t mind because he has helped me in ginormous ways, so it is all I can do for him. I have no idea what will happen, but I know I will not forget the ways my grandpa has inspired, impacted, and loved

I don’t remember the rest but even though the women was a stranger to him he took care of her as if she was but a mere family friend. And every time we (mainly me) have a medical issue that looks bad but not bad enough to go to the hospital we give him a call and ask him what he can make out of it. He answers immediately if he isn’t too busy and tells us what the matter is. If it is bad or if it is a minor symptom of some medicine. It is truly wonderful to see someone I have known for a long time to show such selflessness in todays society.…

I interviewed my grandfather Charles Rutherford who lives down the road from me. We discussed a few different topics such as what his life was like being a kid, what he thought of school, and how he knew my grandmother was the one for him. It sometimes got off tracks talking about his children and what happened to them, but for most of the time we stayed on topic. We talked a lot about what life was like and his jobs and his life overall. This interview started about his life in Tennessee and it wasn't easy for him back then, he had to walk miles to school and his dad wasn't around very often.…

Supreme Court Justice and Latina woman, Sonia Sotomayor once stated, “The Latina in me is an ember that blazes forever.” After given much thought on what it means to be an Idaho Latina, I could not think of how to describe the feeling or how one thinks, acts, and lives. I feel like I haven’t found my place in the Hispanic population in school even though I am full Hispanic. I don’t speak Spanish fluently, I am at a different academic level than other Hispanics, and I have different interests. I couldn’t believe that I was stuck in boring old Pulaski, Virginia. What a perfect place to run out of gas on the annual trip from West Virginia to Florida. I had assumed that I would just lay out at the local all night pub. But as soon I entered the establishment, an old man greeted me at the door and he blocked my entrance. He said he wanted a chance to tell an outsider about the story of his great grandfather, Jack Jackson.…

One person has always had the power to make a difference in another’s life. Whether that be a family member teaching a little one kindness, or even on a bigger scale Martin Luther King Jr. leading a revolution to the acceptance of people with different colored skin. Even bad people can make a change for the good, like a school shooter who makes schools realize they need a plan in place for an attack on their students. One person can change the way others think entirely and can impact their lives in a major way. Lori Ann Heyden, my grandmother, had made a huge impact in my life.…

There Once Was a Time There once was a time in my life in which everything was put into perspective. My mother had been taken to the hospital multiple times whether it’d be for cramps or for stomach sicknesses. She is the most hardworking person I know in my life. She grew up without anything. A. Autobiographical Statement My mother was the first and only person in her family to graduate from college, which has always been an inspiration to me. She was an abused wife on food stamps, raising two children on her own while my father was incarcerated. I will always remember when she told me that life was like a lotus flower; we may start by growing in the mud but each day we can choose to bloom above the water into a beautiful flower. It was then that I understood my childhood was not my choice, but how I choose to live the rest of my life was. My mother never wavered in her faith that if I wanted to do something in my life the only thing that could hold me back was myself.…
