Please consider me for the Youth Programs Coordinator position at the Tong Louie Family YMCA and Brentwood Community Centre as listed craigslist.ca. As a volunteer for the RRU Peer Support Program, I planned student and community events to raise awareness around gendered violence and fundraise for the program itself. While working for the YMCA of Greater Vancouver and Douglas Park Community Centre I hosted programs, like sports tournaments and summer camps, and I helped to create a sense of community, through outreach and leadership programs. As a volunteer leader and project assistant for the Great Island Run, a fundraiser to benefit St Mary’s Hospital, I further strengthened my skills in leadership and teamwork.
When I was a preteen, I was part of the Youth Leadership Development program at the Chilliwack YMCA. I went on to work for the YMCA as a gym program leader, then as a summer camp coordinator, and finally as a volunteer coordinator for the Youth Leadership program – the same program I had been a participant in. Having benefitted from the support of the YMCA myself, it would be a great honor to join the Tong Louie Family YMCA and the Brentwood Community Centre and connect others to this community leader.
