For the purposes of this reflective piece I choose to use the YMCA one of Rhode Islands most popular center. There are YMCA located in about each city. Besides that they’re nationwide. Their mission statement states “ We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. At the Y, we measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of focus.” and they stand by it. They focus upon youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. They’re offer programs to help prepare the youth become aware of their potentials, they help prepare teens for college, and also offer …show more content…
They’re more involved in ones health. An example of this is that they offer free private, one-on-one health and wellness consultations, Diabetes Prevention Programs, Invitations to free community and family social events, Parent’s Night Out events, where you can enjoy an evening with adults while the kids are having fun at the Y. They also offer a little more to the kids such as having youth programs such as karate, dance, art, and sports, and free child care while the parent exercise. With a Facility Membership, members have full access to the YMCA facility that they join. This includes fitness centers, group exercise classes, lap and recreational swimming. Members also receive free fitness orientation and priority registration for programs. As a facility member, they’re able to participate in most programs at no additional cost. Any programs with fees, facility members can take advantage of reduced fees. They’re also a Program Membership available for those who want to enroll in a particular class or program, such as swim lessons, youth sports, or child care, and do not wish to have full access to the YMCA facility. General usage of the YMCA facility is not included. One unique program that the YMCA offer is Financial assistance available to those who cannot afford the services the YMCA provides. These funds come from the generosity of our donors, from grants, and from earned income of the association. Unfortunately, YMCA is that it’s not open to the public and only available for those who are members of the YMCA. Which causes limitations to people who don’t have families yet. Those people who don’t have families might not be ideally found in the YMCA which limits the target
