Out of all my memories, the one that has impacted me in a positive way is my first YMCA summer camp when I was thirteen years old. Since I was new in the country, I wanted to gain experience and learn something new. I wanted to get familiar with American culture. I was very excited for this trip. The camp was about one week long and it was my first time when I lived without being in contact with my parents, although I did receive letters from my mom and some presents. I had a great experience while being in camp. Some of the positive lessons I learned were managing my time, making a bad experience into a positive experience, and having experiences with different activities. When I sleep late it’s hard for me to wake up early morning. During the camp, I was given a schedule for the day and it had listed all the activities that I had to participate in. Every morning, I had to wake up at 6 o’ clock and go for the breakfast. It was my …show more content…
On the first day, I was asked to introduce myself to my peers. It turned out I did well on it. However, I had a negative experience on the following day in CIT meeting because I was given an unfamiliar topic to give a speech on. My topic was on the Syria crisis. I remembered that I was asked by my dad if Syria was a boat or ship and I told him that it was a ship. He laughed and told me that it was a country. Now I knew Syria was a country, but I was unaware of the Syria crisis. When I had to present in front of my peers and the people who were evaluated me, I could not speak a single word on the Syria crisis and I was very embarrassed. I wanted to leave the camp. That was one of my horrible days until I thought of solving my problem. I thought that I did not speak a single word today in CIT meeting. What if I speak tomorrow one sentence? I felt very positive that night and next day in CIT meeting everything turned out very well for

The mission statement of the YMCA Greater New York defines the purpose for creating the organization, how it plans to operate, and what individuals or groups it targets.…

In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

The most memorable unit from my educational experience occurred in my twelfth grade English class. The unit was a comparative reading about Beowulf and Gilgamesh, which entailed several discussion based lectures and a final paper comparing the archetypes of heroes and characters. For me, this unit was so interesting as we discussed what made a hero and the hero’s journey, during this time I was writing my own book. I connected with this lesson because of my experiences outside school; with this said, a friend of mine who was in the class with me recalls the unit as well. Though, our opinions of it differ.…
